The last few weeks have been a mad rush to finish a
long term project called MY LIFE! The trial by fire continues in this
second year of my encore performance. I had generously given Virgil, the
mason installing my kitchen tiles, three days beyond his estimate. Other
than the electrical and plumbing jobs assigned to Manuel, none of the other
jobs, that are dependent upon various experts, have come in on time.
During an extremely busy time with work, this kind of destructive crash and
burn up to the Twelfth Hour is really not okay!
You might be wondering why I would even schedule such a messy job when I'm swamped with work or why the floors weren't installed before I moved into the house. I'm wondering that myself but this is Mexico after all and my will isn't always, and mostly never, living in a vacuum of isolation. The floors were never polished because there were no tiles to polish in the kitchen and foyer. It didn't make much sense to me to have just two rooms done, but now that I see what will be involved, namely moving every piece of furniture, dusting the paintings, and rewashing all of my clothing, I think this was a huge mistake! What do you think? LOL!
I highly recommend that no one move into a home primarily built from concrete until it is fully renovated. Is any home ever completed? I did some type of remodel or restructuring on my Austin home for twenty years. I hope to have this one finished by early summer of 2013. That might be an optimistic desire. Now that I no longer require an entire crew, I have to wait until laborers, like a mason, are freed from other responsibilities. With that in mind, Manuel is designating Virgil to my homes' needs. Once the floors are finished the work on the patio will begin, but so will Christmas season which last for a month, and that if followed by Carnival. This most festive time of year is when I lost my first construction crew during the initial renovations.
NOTES TO SELF
1.) Don't buy a house in November as it will not be yours until February.
2.) Don't expect work to be completed on time.
3.) Don’t expect work to be done during holiday seasons.
4.) Mexico owns your time!
Just to be clear, so you have a full view of the circus, Cablemas will arrive between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. to adjust their router, which hasn’t worked for a week, on the same day the floors are to be polished.
Anyone have a spare bottle of Star Essence Transcendence Spray? Mine is about empty.

Living vicariously through your chaos. Wish I was there to wring hands with you.
In Mexico, NEVER move into a house til the remodel is finished.....or rent, it's cheaper!
Lynette, your hands are too beautiful to be wringing! Let's play instead!
Babs!!!!!!!You are absolutely correct! If I could do it all again, I would have bought the house and had the work done while still living in Texas. Another bad idea!
